Card-a-Copia: And Now for Something a Little Different!

I'm submitting these creations for a design team spot.  I hope they are interesting enough to help me make the cut!

This is a picture frame I picked up for $1.00 at Goodwill.  It came with the matting, which I pulled apart and covered with a cat-oriented piece of scrapbooking paper.  I added some white ink around the  openings to draw in the eye.

As a final step, I painted the frame, which was originally hunter green, a semi-gloss black.

I made this dream vacation planning book with a piece of scrapbooking paper from October Afternoon paper, various pieces of cardstock and large clear envelopes.  Inside the book, there are tabbed envelopes for Summer and Winter vacation ideas, as well as Cruises and one for "If Money Were No Object."

I created the actual paging by scoring and mountain-valley folding a piece of cardstock.  I then used adhesive to mount the envelopes on this "rigging."  I compressed the rigging and covered it with a binding (see the far right side).

With four dogs and two cats, I can dream all I want about vacations, but I don't see them happening!

I saw this cartoon and thought it was a hoot.  I'm always telling my students that the tattoo you think is so cool today is going to look pretty ridiculous when they are in their 80's!  (And frankly, I have better things to spend my money on...craft supplies!)

Card-a-Copia: 2013 Father's Day

I finally got the photos edited of my Dad's Fathers Day card.  This is a modified trifold shutter card as designed by Sandy Allnock of Operation Write Home.  (You go, Girl!  Love me some Sandy Allnock!)

The card turned out really great, I think!

Stamps: none
Inks:  More Mustard (Stampin' Up!)
Paper:
Misc.:  ribbon (unknown), brads (American Crafts), heart punch (Stampin' Up!),

Card-a-Copia: I Made a Real Scrapbook

Step right up, Ladies & Gentlemen!  See a real scrapbook made by myself!  Witness a feat of great devotion featuring my Canine Kids:

Card-a-Copia: The Hot Ol' Summertime

Yes, it's been awhile.  I've been active in the craft room, but taking the photos, editing them, and then thinking of something to say about them really slows me down.

It's the week before the Fourth.  Those of you who have visited here before know how much I really enjoy the sights and sounds of Independence Day.  This is the first summer with all four of the dogs, and from the few preliminary firecrackers we experienced last night, I can tell you that Bianca and Chance will not handle the week well.  Teddy and Muffin eventually settle down.

The worst part of this holiday is that I cannot have windows open to help ventilate the house because the sounds are louder.  Currently, at 6:20 PM, the temperature inside the house in 86 degrees.  Yippee.  I will be leaving the house in a couple hours to go have dinner some place with yummy food and even yummier air conditioning!

Alright, I have several cards to share, but because many of them were made from scraps I received from a fellow card maker, I may not have full descriptions for them.  Edits are in the future!

First is a card I made as my submission for Tickled Pink's "Lil Lads and Lolitas" design team.  C. C. Designs are sold at All That Scraps.com.   I have a lot of former students having babies, so this image will be used often!

Stamp: Little Lads & Lolitas "Baby Ivy" (Tickled Pink)
Ink: Copics
Papers: Paper Doll Collection "Emma" (Crate Paper), Walnut Grove "Nellie" (Pebbles)
Misc.:  Groovy Guava ribbon (Stampin' Up!), circle dies (Nestabilities), pearls (unknown), white gel pen (Signo)

Here's a close-up of the main image.  Hair is still kicking my ass, but I keep trying.  I get the idea of creating hair by making strokes with the marker, but direction and color combinations continue to be a challenge.

Second, I made a card a submission for Sami's (A Day for Daisies) design team.  I apparently didn't make the design team, but I like this card because it's a great image for lots of occasions.

Stamp: Comfy Coacoa (Sami Stamps)
Ink:  Copics
Papers: magenta, black (Core d'inations), patterned (unknown)
Misc.: flower (Prima), ribbon (Michaels), photo corner punch (Stampin' Up!)

Next, are a couple cards I did for a card class I put together for some ladies at work.  I can only lay my hands on two of the six that were offered.  I'll add the others once I figure out where I put them...including the fireworks cards that need to go into the mail tomorrow!

Stamps:  none
Ink:  Copic Multiliner
Papers:  dark brown, teal (Core d'inations), patterned (unknown)
Misc.:  orange Stickles, photo corner punch (Stampin' Up!), orange rhinestones (unknown), sentiment (computer generated)

Stamps:  none
Ink: none
Papers:  red, teal (Core d'inations), Hip-Hooray "Boy" (My Mind's Eye)
Misc.:  yellow hemp (unknown), sentiment (computer generated)

More to come!

The Fam'

Updated photos of the dogs for the anniversary of their arrival at my house.  I have had them for a year now.  These pictures were taken by a local photographer who has the patience of a saint!

Bianca has been with me the longest.  She's now 3 1/2 years old.  She doesn't like to share me and gets really cranky when anything/anyone bumps into her.  Her nicknames are B, Miss B, Bee-zee, Beezus, and Pretty Girl.

This is my little 'Muffin.  Her real name is Ragamuffin.  I also call her Miss Muffin, Everybody loves Muffin!  All the dogs get along with her and there isn't a person who has met her who hasn't fallen in love.  (This is the dog who, when I visited the shelter and asked to hold her, nuzzled her head into the place where my neck and shoulder meet.  Who WOULDN'T take her home?)  Muffin is the baby of the pack at 2 1/2 years old.

This handsome lad is Teddy.  He had been returned to the shelter and looked like an absolute mess when I met him.  He also had the longest legs of any small breed dog I'd ever met!  Teddy wasn't really interested in having his photo taken.  In fact, every photo shows him in mid-stride, trying to walk away from the photo area!  Teddy's nicknames are My Prince, Tedster, Ted, Teddy B., and Theodore

Finally, my little man, Chance.  I worked really hard to get him here from California.  He had been part of a hoarder's collection and the shelter was reluctant to adopt him to someone from out of state.  His nicknames are Chancey, Skittle, Football, Happy Ass, and Cute Boy.  I know parents aren't supposed to have favorites, but...

Since the last time I posted photos of the cats, I had to have both Mignon and Saddles put to sleep.  Miss my girls.  The boys, Cocoa and Yael, remain sequestered in the family room with opportunities to sneak out and wander about the house at night.  I wish everyone could get along, but it seems like a long shot at best.

Card-a-Copia: Spring Greetings!

I don't actually celebrate Easter, but there's nothing wrong with a super cute Spring card, right?  (It is also quite handy to have a SPRING card to send since today is Easter Sunday!)  This image comes from A Day for Daisies --- love it!

Stamps:  Bunny in a Rose (A Day for Daisies)
Inks:  Copics, Groovy Guava (Stampin' Up!), "Tea Dye" Distress Ink (Ranger)
Paper:  I Do "Gerber Daisies" (American Crafts), Peachy Keen "My Oh My" (American Crafts)
Misc.:  ribbons (Michael's), sentiment (computer generated), Sakura Gelly Roll Clear Star pen

May the (stale) Peeps be with you!

Card-a-Copia: Gnome Time and Time for You

I created this little gem from a Birdie Brown digital image called Gnome Boy - Fall.  I know it isn't Fall, but Fall is my favorite season and since Spring just isn't interested in hanging out here in Seattle, I went with something I like!

Only three weeks until Spring Break.  I'm so ready!  I bought myself a Workbox from The Original Workbox and have set aside an entire day to put it together.  (Add in the ungodly amount of time it took to get the five hundred pounds of incredibly heavy materials from the pallet that was dropped off in my driveway, and the whole process will have taken a minimum of three weeks to assemble!!)

Stamp:  Gnome Boy - Fall (Birdie Brown)
Inks:  Copics, More Mustard (Stampin' Up!)
Paper:  unknown Bo Bunny
Misc.:  ribbon (Michael's), wooden bird (Studio Calico), sentiment (computer generated)

I created this little card for a design team application.  A Day for Daisies designer, Sami, has some really cute images.  I paper-pieced the garment on this image and inked the flower to match the paper.

Stamps:  Comfy Coacao (A Day for Daisies)
Inks:  Copics
Paper:  green and black (Core d'inations), pattern (KaiserCraft)
Misc.:  ribbon (Michael's), flower (Prima), pearls (K & Co.), sentiment (computer generated)

Card-a-Copia: Birthday Wishes a la BirdieBrown

Just a quick post to show the 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" birthday card I created for my niece's birthday coming up in a few weeks.  I used one of my favorite artist's images (Torico/BirdieBrown) and lots of COLOR!  I'm entering it into her birthday card challenge.

The main focal image is embedded in the openings on the front.  Some of the circles from the patterned paper were cut out and added to the card to give the whole thing more dimension.  I colored the robot and then added Glossy Accents to make her look like she's fresh off the assembly line!

I added the sentiment and the heart before I printed out the image.

I'll update later with the patterned papers I used.

Stamp:  Robot With Balloon (BirdieBrown)
Inks:  Copics
Papers:  green and black (Core'dinations)
Misc.:  Glossy Accents (Stampin' Up!), rhinestones (Michael's)
